Every time I hear the word great, I think of Mahatma Gandhi, I think of the greatness of Mother Theresa, and great man like Dr Ambedkar. I also think of the amazing talent of personalities like Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar and many others. Each and every one of these people is what we truly call great. But today I got to see beyond their greatness, I got to understand another level of greatness that we normally forget to appreciate, and that is the greatness of the mother behind each and every great person you can think of. For I truly believe that the one who has the ability to make a person great, is even far much greater.
Before the world knows you, it is your mother who knows you first. Before the world believes you, it is your mother who believes in you first. The greatness of our mothers comes from deepest ever flowing streams of faith, hope and inspiration, which flows from the centre of her heart into the hearts every single child in this world. She may not be the one who builds your life but she is definitely the architecture who designs, even when your college degree, or your music talent builds your greatness, it is the mother who would have already designed the blueprints to your greatness.
And above all the word mother to me means exactly the same as the word sacrifice. The sacrifice a mother makes is something even Einstein failed to measure, it is a loving sacrifice that goes beyond every form of comparison. A kind of sacrifice where she removes the joy from her face just to put it on the face of her child. The appreciation of our mothers should not be something we do only on a single day, but through each and every day of our lives. A mother’s only wish is to see her daughter or her son become great in life, and this is what makes the mother the greatest pillar of our lives. It is this motherly nature that should lie within the hearts of every lecturer within Parul University, to see your students as your own sons and daughters and to wish for nothing but their greatness.
If you truly wish to see greatness, I advise you not to look on TV, or the internet or any form of media, I advise you to look at your mother and within her you will find greatness. Let us appreciate the greatness of our mothers this Mother’s Day.
