In fact, there is a separate R and D cell on campus. PU has acquired 124 IPR’s { Intellectual Property Rights } in three years. With 10 million youth entering the job market every year, the need of the hour is to develop job creators instead of job seekers. That is what the Entrepreneurship Development Cell {EDC} at PU does. Around 30 start-ups emerge annually thanks to the activities of this cell. Many of these are in hi-tech areas. But several also attempt to solve the problems of the common man. One start-up aims to deliver chopped vegetables to homes, thereby saving housewives from the drudgery of this chore. Another aims to alleviate the slum problem by creating sustainable solutions for housing.

The EDC has won several awards and accolades for its activities. It was placed in the top 5 at the National Entrepreneurship Challenge at IIT Bombay.
